Though it is different from the skin in many ways, hair, like the horny epidermis, is derived from cells.Nutrition is carried through capillary vessel to the hair bulb. A small mass of cells at the base of the hair follicles, called the “Matrix”, produces hair.Hair grows and pushes up to the surface of the scalp. Hair grows about 0.2 to 0.4 mm per day.
The formation of hair
Hair is formed of a combination of protein called Keratin and Water.
Karatin is harder and stronger than the protein of the internal organs of the human body. Keratin yields several kinds of amino-acid by hydrolysis.The amino-acids composing Keratin are as follows;Glutamic acid, Threonine, Valine, Cystine, Methionine, Alanine, Isoleucine, Tryptophan, Phenylalanine, Arginine, Proline, Lysine, Serine, Glycine, Histidine, Aspartic acid, Tyrosine and Hydroxylysine.

Why do “Baldness” occur?
Hair is produced by the differentiation of the hair matrix under the scalp. However, in case of dysfunction of hair papilla (e.g. hormonal imbalance, nutritional disorder, etc.), hair papilla stops reproducing hair. There are so many causes of alopecia, such as weak nerves, heredity, hormonal imbalance, malnutrition, seborrhoea, scalp tension and so on. Furthermore, baldness arising from disappearance of hair papilla caused by burns, wounds, medicinal damage, syphilis or aging, etc.,.
The process is as follows;
Stress Irritation, Medicinal damage, Aging, Burns and Wounds, Gastroenteric trouble, Syphilis and Others.

Hair grows about 0.2-0.4mm daily. Today it is an accepted theory that hair has a lifespan of 2 to 6 years. When the hair root dies, hair falls out naturally, and it is considered as physiological falling hair and it is not the abnormal condition.
Thus, everyone loses 50-100 hairs daily. After the interval of hair span, new hair replaces the lost hair, is growing from the same follicle. Thus, the cycle of regeneration repeats naturally and the balance of hair exchange is maintained. If the lifespan of hair is shortened or hair growth stops, the cycle will be lost and abnormal hair loss will increase.
Is hair loss an illness ?
It is abnormal when more than 200 hairs fall out per day, and it can be considered as kind of illness. There are various theories on the causes. Let’s check the difference between normal and abnormal hair loss:
The swell of hair root is smaller than the root of healthy falling hair. It is atrophied and slender. It is a pattern of hair root that we frequently see in case of depression of hair root by strong male hormone or poor blood circulation in the scalp. This type of hair falls out without fulfilling the expected life-span. The growth of symptom shortens its Anagen stage, and likely to be downy hair, then it leads to thin hair and baldness.
Causes : Shortening of the hair cycle by the activation of male hormone and poor circulation of the scalp.
Measures : Make soft scalp and promote blood circulation to hair roots.
We can see a few scraps of tissue / waste matters of surrounding tissue of hair root on the tip of hair root.
We can frequently see it caused by squama, falling hairs with dandruff, oily scalp and falling hairs with excessive sebum.
When the scalp is not clean or when waste matters are collected on and around the hair pore by an environmental deterioration of the scalp or hair pores, normal growth of hair gets disturbed by inflammation then falls out in early time.
The aggravation of symptom makes hairs downy and thin.
Causes : Inflammation and dandruff by breeding of germs. An environmental deterioration of hair pores. Increase of sebum by male hormone.
Measures : Improve the environment of hair pore.(Remove dandruff and sebum.)
Control germs. (Sterilization and anti-inflammation.)
Prevent male hormone from affecting sebaceous gland.
The shape of hair root is small swell in comparison with healthy hair root, atrophied and is slender.

Causes :Local disorder of blood circulation caused by stress. Disorder of nutrition supply from blood. Autoimmunity (Destruction of hair cell by itself.)
Measures : Accelerate blood circulation to the hair roots. Control autoimmunity (mainly in case of alopecia universalis )

Dandruff and itchiness can be serious indications of abnormal falling hair!
Causes of and treatments for dandruff:
Dandruff is a mixture of sweat, sebum, dirt etc., added to flakes of outer layer of epidermis. As hair grows thicker on the head, these flakes become harder to remove than dirt, hence dandruff problems gradually appear if shampooing is insufficient.
There are two types of dandruff. One is dry type which is grayish white and flakes fall off when you scratch the scalp.
The other is oily type and it sticks to the nails when you scratch the scalp.
Treatment
Pityriasic scale….
Firstly, keep the scalp clean by shampooing frequently. Then, improve the scalp function with hair tonic.
Apply oil onto the scalp to prevent from drying.
Seborrhic scale….
Keep the scalp clean by frequent shampoo, and then, use hair tonic.
Types of dandruff:
○ Dry and flaky type (Pityriasic scale):
When the air is dry and when there is little sebum, this type of dandruff appears because of
drying of the outer layer of the skin (the stratum corneum).
○ Oily type (Seborrhic scale):
As a result of excessive sebaceous secretion, greasy dandruff appears. Excess of sebaceous secretion would be caused by excess of androgenic hormone.
Keratinization of the scalp tissue may be accelerated by physical irritation, such as scratching with the nails, chemical irritation (from drugs), and more dandruff may occur.
Causes of dandruff and falling hair:
Dandruff is caused by abnormal keratinization of stratum corneum, the outer layer of epidermis.
Therefore, the sheath that is wrapping the hair root will be keratinized gradually.
This leads to a reduction of the power of the skin to hold hair to less than half of normal.
Eventually, even if the hair still retains its own life, it falls out easily when pulled or combed.
Cleaning hair pores.
The individual hair of thin hair is usually slim, and there is a large
clearance between the hair pore and hair shaft. Eventually, the pores tend to get blocked by dandruff or waste matter.
Therefore, firstly, it is necessary to clean the pores and the scalp for liquid ingredients to penetrate deeply into the hair root.
This will stimulate the area around the hair matrix and hair root. Improve the activity of the skin function!
